TRIP 2009 and RTD Ads mentioning 50% discount

TRIP users have been calling to ask about the new RTD ads on the light rail lines. The ads show the new RTD prices for 2009. These ads refer to a 50% discount this is NOT the TRIP discount. We believe the ad is referencing RTD's discounted fares, which apply to all seniors 65+, individuals with disabilities, Medicare recipients and students in elementary, middle and high school, ages 6-19. Provide proof of eligibility when boarding. For seniors or individuals with disabilites, a Special Discount Card may be obtained by calling 303.299.2667.

2009 TRIP prices are shown below:
TRIP will offer local passes for $45.50
TRIP will offer express passes for $83.20
TRIP will offer regional passes for $106.60

Denver – The Regional Transportation District (RTD) normal weekend light rail service on the segment of light rail between the Convention Center/Performing Arts and 18th/California Stations Light Rail stations, and the 16th Street FREE MallRide, will experience temporary service interruptions due to the two fireworks shows on New Year’s Eve in downtown Denver. The service only on that segment of the light rail lines and the MallRide will temporarily suspend operation on Wednesday, December 31, from 8 p.m. to approximately 1 a.m. on January 1, 2009.

For route and schedule information, please call RTD’s Telephone Information Center at 303.299.6000. Call 303.299.6089 for the speech and hearing impaired. Visit RTD’s web site at www.RTD-Denver.com.

TRIP To Work: RTD will provide free rides on all RTD services from 7 p.m. New Year’s Eve until 6 a.m. New Year’s Day

Denver – The Regional Transportation District (RTD) once again wants to be your designated driver offering free rides on all bus and light rail service, as well as access-a-Ride and skyRide service on New Year’s Eve. This year, RTD has partnered with CDOT and MillerCoors to make sure everyone has a safe holiday. Plan your New Year’s Eve trip ahead of time by visiting RTD-Denver.com or CDOT’s PlanAheadColorado.com for details on taxi vouchers.

The transit agency has offered this free fare program for the past eighteen years to encourage celebrants and non-celebrants alike to use a safer, more reliable mode of transportation rather than driving their own cars. Note that RTD is not offering more service or additional routes, but all of the regularly scheduled service will be free of charge.

All regularly scheduled bus and light rail service will operate on a normal weekday schedule on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday December 31 and will be free from 7:00 p.m. until 6 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, 2008. Service will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on New Year’s Day, and a normal weekday schedule the following day.

RTD recommends that riders plan ahead by getting schedule information from RTD’s web site at www.RTD-Denver.com.or from RTD’s Telephone Information Center at 303.299.6000 (open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day). Call 303.299.6089 for the speech and hearing impaired.

TRIP TO WORK: New TRIP rates

The South I-25 Urban Corridor Transportation Management Association has decided to offer the Transit Rider Incentive Program (TRIP) in 2009. TRIP 2009 has slight modifications from TRIP 2008. The main change will be a reduction in the subsidy offered from 50% in 2008 to 35% in 2009.

On January 1, 2009, RTD is raising fares. Due to this increase and the high demand for TRIP passes, the TRIP program will reduce its rate on regular monthly transit passes from a 50% subsidy to a 35% subsidy. Transit passes include access to RTD light rail, bus, and call-n-Ride services. The fare for a local monthly pass through RTD will be $70; TRIP will offer the local passes for $45.50. The fare for an express monthly pass through RTD will be $128; TRIP will offer express passes for $83.20. Finally, the fare for a regional monthly pass through RTD will be $164; TRIP will offer regional passes for $106.60.

TRIP is the result of the South I-25 Urban Corridor Transportation Management Association’s efforts. This group is a coalition of local governments including the City of Lone Tree, City of Greenwood Village, City of Centennial, Arapahoe County, Douglas County, the Southeast Public Improvement Metropolitan District (SPIMD), and the business community represented by the Southeast Business Partnership (SEBP). TRIP passes are available to eligible employees working in the South I-25 Urban Corridor.

Greenwood Village Chamber information on Traffic and Closures due to DNC Event Tonight

I just finished a conference call with CDOT and have compiled the latest closure information
for today's event at Invesco Field as well as parking and shuttle information.

The most important things to know are that the I-25 closure slated for 5:30pm will commence around 2:30 as it takes 3 hours to shut it down. Also, there is no parking at Invesco Field lots. Private lots around the stadium are open but average $80.

If you are attending the Invesco event, about the only thing you can take inside is a camera without an extended lens. Food and drink are prohibited as are umbrellas, etc. This is a National Security Special Event and screening will be thorough with zero tolerance. In addition to items of concern, please guard your words carefully as any statements will be taken very seriously also with zero tolerance. Allow plenty of time for the screening process.

Please log on to www.gvchamber.com/DNCTrafficTip.html for all of the parking info, RTD shuttle information, and protest closures.

Please feel free to pass this along to friends, family, customers, and clients to help their day travel more smoothly.

If you are attending the event at Invesco, enjoy! You will literally be part of a true milestone in this great nation's history!

To Your Success (and easy travels),
Mark Crowley

RTD Detours for DNC Events at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium, Thursday August 28, 2008

RTD will continue to run all routes; some will have detours

Denver  The Regional Transportation District (RTD) service on some bus routes will be temporarily detoured on Thursday, August 28, due to the Democratic National Convention events at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium.

Bus service along and across Colfax

There will be two parades between 9 a.m. and noon near Invesco Field at Mile High. Colfax will be closed from Federal to Kalamath starting at 9 a.m. for the parades. Colfax will remain closed from Federal to Kalamath until midnight, which will also close the Federal Transfer Center at Colfax and Federal.  Passengers using the routes listed below that will be affected by the parades should expect some delays and detours which may impact scheduled connecting bus trips.

The following routes will be detoured northbound and southbound: 7, 30, 31, 49 and 50.

The following routes will be detoured westbound and eastbound: 1, 16, 16L and 20.

Invesco Field at Mile High area service detours

During the acceptance speech event at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium on Thursday, August 28, Interstate 25 from 6th Avenue to I-70 will also be closed from approximately 5 p.m. until the event is over. Passengers using routes listed below should expect delays and detours which may impact scheduled connecting bus trips.

The I-25 Northbound HOV Lanes will remain open from 16th Street to Northbound I-25.

The following route will be detoured southbound: 120X.

The following routes will be detoured westbound and eastbound: B, 10 and AF.

Light Rail C and E Lines will begin operating to and from Denver Union Station starting the morning of Thursday, August 28. The Pepsi Center/Elitch Gardens Station will remain closed on August 28, so light rail service will continue past that station without stopping.

TRIP To Work: Can I buy an August Pass?

We received a number of emails today asking if we could sell an August pass. Even if we had not sold out this month, at midnight on the 20th of each month our system processes all purchases for the month automatically, making it impossible for us to sell any passes after that time. We encourage all TRIP To Work users to buy a September pass as soon as possible to avoid not getting one. All passes are sold on a 'first come, first serve' basis till we are sold out (and yes, you can buy passes on weekends and after hours.) If  you have any questions, please send us an email.

Sunday, July 20, 2008

TRIP TO WORK: August TRIP Passes SOLD OUT!

TRIP To Work tickets for August are sold out. Please visit the TRIP To Work site after midnight on July 21, 2008 to purchase September 2008 TRIP Passes. Please note that passes are sold on a 'first come, first serve' basis.

TRIP TO WORK: 50% Off August Passes Selling Fast

Through today we are currently 77 passes ahead of where we were last month this time in ticket sales and last month we came within less than 10 passes of selling out. Tickets are sold on a 'first come, first serve' basis till they are sold out or we reach the monthly deadline of midnight, July 20th.  We would strongly encourage you to buy your August pass as soon as possible to maximize your chances of getting one. September passes will go on sale on July 21st. Visit TripToWork to buy your August pass now.

TRIP To Work: TRIP Stats

Total TRIP passes sold (through July passes): 3,166
Total amount of money saved by TRIP riders (through July passes): $141.498.00
Total DAILY user miles saved (through July passes): 37,052 miles
Average miles saved per DAY since the TRIP program launched in Feb: 14,241 miles

If there is a downside to these numbers, it is that we only have a limited amount of subsidy each month for the TRIP To Work program. We strongly encourage riders to buy their TRIP passes as close to the 21st of each month to increase your chances of getting one before they sell out - all TRIP To Work passes are strictly sold on a 'First Come, First Serve' basis. To buy a pass for August 2008, please visit the TRIP Store.

TRIP To Work Passes Close To Selling Out Last Month! Buy your August Pass Now.

With the growing popularity of the TRIP To Work program, last month we came to within 10 passes from selling out! TRIP To Work: When Will I Get My June 2008 Pass?

We received an email from RTD this morning that all TRIP passes had been mailed out today. You should be receiving it in the next few days. If you don't receive your pass by Wednesday, May 28, please call us at 877-975-TRIP (8747) or you can contact us by email.

Please note that July passes are selling fast - we encourage you to buy a July 2008 pass as soon as possible to make sure that you get one before they are sold out.

TRIP To Work: Can I Still Buy A June Pass?

We have received a number of requests from people who missed the May 20 deadline to find out if they could still buy a June TRIP pass. Unfortunately, our ticket purchase system is largely automated and once the deadline arrives, the mailing slips are automatically generated, funds are processed and everything is sent to RTD for fulfillment. We strongly encourage you to buy a July pass as soon as possible! You can still buy a June pass at the full price (without the 50% discount) at the RTD Store.

TRIP To Work: Buy Your July 2008 Pass Now!

Our TRIP ticket sales for June reached an all time high and as gas prices continue to climb, we anticipate that the demand for July tickets will be even greater - because TRIP is based on limited subsidies there is a real possibility that we could run out of tickets in July. We would encourage all TRIP users to purchase a July pass as early as possible to make sure that you get one.

Monday, May 19, 2008

TRIP To Work: Tomorrow is the last day to buy June 2008 pass

You have until midnight tomorrow (Tuesday May 20, 2008) to buy a TRIP discounted pass! After midnight, July 2008 passes will be available for purchase. Because of the automation of our online system we are unable to sell June passes after midnight! To make sure you don't miss out, please visit TRIPtoWork.com right now to get your pass.

When purchasing a TRIP pass, please remember the following terms and conditions and return policy.

Thank-you for ordering you monthly transit pass with a 50% discount from the South I-25 Urban Corridor Transportation Management Association please remember that ALL products are NON-REFUNDABLE. You are responsible for purchasing the correct TRIP pass for the distance you plan to travel. If you have questions about which pass to purchase, please contact RTD at 303-299-6000 or visit http://www.rtd-denver.com.

*  Advance purchase required.
*  Passes must be ordered by the 20th of the previous month.
*  Good for unlimited rides at all times during effective calendar month and year.
*  May not be used for RTD special services, which include, but are not limited to:
   BroncosRide, RockiesRide, SeniorRide, and access-a-Ride.
*  Passes are not prorated.
*  RTD and TRIP do not assume responsibility for loss, theft, destruction or misplacement of pass.
*  RTD and TRIP do not refund or exchange monthly passes.
*  Reproduction or alteration of RTD passes with intent to defraud is a felony-C.R.S. Paragraph 18-5-103.
*  The TRIP program is currently only available for 2008. All passes are given on a First Come First Serve basis each month.
*  Individuals can only order 1 pass per month.  Additional passes will be canceled.

TRIP To Work: Can I still buy a May pass

We have received a number of calls and emails asking if it is still possible to buy a May pass given that it is only one day past the deadline. Unfortunately, right at midnight on the 20th, the system closes all sales for the month, generates the necessary reports and the passes are purchased from RTD. Because of the degree of automation and the deadlines necessary to purchase the tickets from RTD so that they can be mailed as soon as possible, we are unable to go back and make any changes. Your best bet it to order your June 2008 pass now so that you don't have to worry about the deadline. Also, as the programs popularity is starting to spread, we would strongly encourage TRIP users to buy a pass sooner rather than later as they are sold on a 'first come, first serve' basis and our monthly allotment of June could sell out before the 20th of May.

TRIP To Work: Your Survey Comments

When you purchase a TRIP Pass there is an option to send feedback to RTD. Each month we get hundreds of comments and want to thank you for your insightful feedback. The comments are passed on to RTD at the close of each pass period (the 20th of the month) where they are carefully reviewed. Here are some of them from TRIP riders over the past month:

I LOVE taking Light Rail and staying off of I-25!! I-25 is such a nightmare. I can read my book or just relax when I'm on the train. Plus, I get my workout by walking to work (I work in the DTC area and get on the Light Rail at University of Denver and get off at the Orchard stop.) I have just one "slightly" negative comment and that is I wish some of the Light Rail patrons would keep their feet OFF the seats. THANK YOU LIGHT RAIL! :) - AW

This is a phenomenal program that I truly appreciate. The Light Rail is a blessing, especially considering the cost of petroleum as well as the environmental effect. So often, while riding the rail, I see a single person in an SUV in slow moving traffic on I-25. I arrive home via Light Rail before most of my colleagues who drive their private vehicles to work. Having this program makes using the light rail a true no brainer. Thanks. - SD

last month I qualified for the discount RTD pass. It was a true blessing and am once again grateful for the discount again this month! Every little bit helps since if I was driving my own vehicle it would cost a minimum of $500 per month with the recent gas prices. THANK YOU RTD :)  - CF

There are also a lot of comments and suggestions regarding more trains, call-n-Ride and busses, scheduling suggestions and request for more trash cans and quiet a few riders who expressed frustration at people who put their feet on the chairs! Again, please know that your comments are appreciated and carefully reviewed and we look forward to hearing from you. You can make additional comments via email or by calling us at 877-975-TRIP.

TRIP To Work News Update From RTD: RTD Bus Delays For March 29 on Cesar Chavez Day Parade

Denver – The Regional Transportation District (RTD) will experience temporary delays on some of its bus routes during the annual Cesar Chavez Day Parade on Saturday, March 29. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at St, Cajetan’s Center at Auraria Campus, proceed right on to Speer Boulevard, then right on 11th Avenue, then left on Galapago Street where the parade will conclude at 910 Galapage Street (The Denver Inner City Parish).

RTD will experience minor delays on the following bus routes starting about 10:30 am:

-          Route 1, 7, 9, 16, 30, 31, 48

The buses on these routes will continue running during the parade, but will be temporarily delayed as a rolling detour will close the road long enough for the parade to proceed. There will be no bus detours.  Riders can expect to add a few minutes to their travel time because of the delays.

For route and schedule information, please call RTD’s Telephone Information Center at 303.299.6000.  Call 303.299.6089 for the speech and hearing impaired.  Visit RTD’s website at www.RTD-Denver.com.

TRIP To Work "Train Yourself" Video

We recently received an e-mail from a new TRIP To Work light rail rider that said in part: "I rode the Light Rail this morning. In my 36 years of working I've never ridden a bus or rail to work. It was  a positive adventure." If you have never ridden light rail before, watch the "Train Yourself" video we produced in partnership with RTD. If you need to take your bike on an RTD bus or light rail, you will need to take a short online test and print out a bike permit. You can find more information on the RTD site.

Then go to TRIP To Work to buy your monthly pass.
